Our History

  Our History

Thank you for your interest in Grace Bible Church of Naples (GBCN)! We trust that as you read more about who we are and how we are trying to faithfully pursue the mandate of Christ for His Church, that your heart will be encouraged. Below you will find a brief description and history of our church. If you would like more information please feel free to email info@gbcn.org or call the office and make an appointment to meet with our pastor, Steve Fleming.

The inception of GBCN began in early 2008 with a small group who gathered to pray over God's will for a new church. The focus of those first meetings was a steadfast commitment to the authority of Scripture, prayer, Christ centered worship, and the faithful exposition of Scripture.

Over the next several months, various men from Grace Immanuel Bible Church (Jupiter, FL), drove over each week to lead this group in Sunday morning worship, prayer, and teaching from God’s word (two of these men are now pastoring churches in Florida Marc Wragg, and Matt Stancheck). After much prayer and godly counsel from the Elders of Grace Immanuel, GBCN was officially formed and held its first service on August 17, 2008 at Laurel Oak Elementary.

These men continued to teach the church until February 2009, when GBCN called upon its first pastor, Jim Stitzinger. He helped to grow the church in its understanding of bible exposition, pastoral ministry, and evangelism. Jim now serves as Director of Missions at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
In June 2013, the elders of GBCN called upon Steve Fleming to be their pastor, to enable the ministry of the church to continue in its focus on bible exposition, shepherding and counselling, leadership training, and evangelism (please read more about Steve and his family on our Leadership page). In August 2015 we were able to establish a building fund through the kind generosity of a non-member of the ministry who had observed how the church had lovingingly ministered to a family member undergoing terminal illness. And then by the Lord's providential kindness, in October 2017, Grace Bible Church and Crossroads Community Church merged.

We invite you to join us this Sunday as we gather
to worship and exalt the Lord Jesus Christ? It would be our joy and privilege to serve you and your family any way that we can.
For His Glory,
Grace Bible Church of Naples
